MY KITCHEN JOURNAL
Meet Veronica
Welcome, whether you’re a new friend or a curious foodie passing through.
I’m Veronica Lopez, a marketing graduate student turned culinary dream-chaser, currently training at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. This blog is where my passion for storytelling and food come together.
Think of this space as my kitchen journal. A place where I share recipes, creative experiments, and moments from my journey as I grow in the culinary world. Every dish has a story, and this is where I tell mine.
My path here hasn’t been traditional. I began with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, then moved to Beijing to study Mandarin Chinese, later returning to complete a second degree in Chinese Language & Literature. During that time, I worked closely with my family’s LAVA Acres Ranch in Kansas, where I focused on maximizing the potential of our native Angus cattle—originally from Scotland and traceable over 180 years without crossbreeding. I played a role in helping reintroduce this rare lineage to the United States when it was close to extinction, raising high-quality, grass-fed cattle rooted in sustainability.
Still wanting to deepen my understanding of food from a nutritional perspective, I was accepted into a nutrition master’s program. But I quickly realized my passion wasn’t just about nutrition—it was about creating. That realization led me to pursue a Master’s in Marketing at Baruch College, where I could continue building my family business while developing my creative voice.
In Spring 2026, I finally took the step I had been dreaming about since I was 12 years old—to become a professional chef and fully embrace my place in the culinary world.
